Complete Powder Packing and Cartoning Line

The complete production process can be configured as:

Powder feeding → Auger dosing → Bag forming → Powder filling → Sealing → Cutting → Finished sachet conveying → Automatic cartoning → Hot melt glue sealing → Finished carton output

The project includes two high-speed powder packing machines, with one machine specifically configured to connect directly with the automatic cartoning system. The feeding system was also upgraded with 500L square powder hoppers to support continuous production.

This integrated layout reduces intermediate manual handling between the powder packing process and carton packaging process.

Project Configuration

The original production specification included two high-speed powder packaging machines, while subsequent engineering update sheets specify the SF-2.0S high-speed powder machine and the connection of one machine to the cartoner.

High Speed Automatic Powder Packing Machine

The primary packaging section uses a high-speed vertical powder packing machine combined with an auger filling system.

For powder products, stable feeding and dosing are important because fine powders may generate dust and can behave differently from ordinary granular materials.

For this Colombia project, the powder filling system uses a 50L dosing hopper with SUS304 product-contact surfaces. A screw feeding system automatically transfers powder into the dosing unit.

The complete configuration allows powder feeding, quantitative dosing and bag packaging to operate continuously.

200g, 300g and 500g Back-Seal Powder Bags

For the main carton-packaging products, the machine produces 200g, 300g and 500g back-seal bags.

The production specification defines:

• Film width: 330mm

• Bag width: 150mm

• Bag length: 210mm

• Top seal: 15mm

• Bottom seal: 15mm

• Center seal: 15mm

These 150 × 210mm powder bags are also the packages designed to enter the downstream automatic cartoning machine.

This allows the packing machine and cartoner to operate as one continuous production line.

1000g Gusset Bag Powder Packaging

In addition to the smaller back-seal bags, the high-speed powder machine is also configured for 1000g powder packaging.

The 1kg package uses a gusset bag structure with:

• Film width: 370mm

• Bag width: 115mm

• Bag length: 310mm

• Gusset width: 55mm

A separate auger screw is provided for the 1kg packaging requirement.

This allows the same project to cover both smaller powder packages and larger 1kg packages.

Automatic Cartoning at 50–60 Boxes Per Minute

A major part of this Colombia project is the integration of the powder packing machine with a fully servo automatic cartoning machine.

The cartoner was specifically required to match the production output of the high-speed powder packaging machine, with a target operating speed of approximately:

50–60 boxes per minute.

Instead of collecting finished powder bags manually and loading them into cartons separately, packaged products are transferred directly from the primary packaging machine toward the cartoning section.

This significantly increases the automation level of the complete line.

Fully Servo Automatic Cartoning Machine

The secondary packaging section adopts a fully servo-controlled automatic cartoning machine.

Its main functions include:

carton feeding → carton opening → packaged product loading → carton forming → hot melt glue sealing → finished carton discharge

The production specification requires key control components such as the PLC, touchscreen and servo control system to use Siemens components, while other electrical and pneumatic components use specified brands including Schneider and AirTAC.

This provides a more standardized control architecture for the complete packaging line.

Why Integrate Powder Packing with Automatic Cartoning?

For manufacturers with increasing production volume, buying a high-speed powder packing machine alone does not necessarily eliminate the labor bottleneck.

If finished bags still need to be:

manually collected → manually arranged → manually loaded into cartons → manually closed

the secondary packaging process can become the limiting factor of the entire production line.

By connecting the high-speed powder packaging machine directly to an automatic cartoner, the Colombia customer automated both primary and secondary packaging.
