1kg Salt Packaging Machine Case in Tunisia – Anti-Corrosion Design with Measuring Cup Dosing and PE Film
Project Overview
Samfull completed a 1kg salt packaging machine project for a customer in Tunisia. The customer required a stable and economical solution for 1kg retail salt bags, using PE film and a measuring cup dosing system.
Different from ordinary granular products, salt is corrosive and may damage machine parts after long-term production, especially in areas that directly contact the product or are exposed to salt dust. For this reason, Samfull customized the machine with an anti-corrosion design, including Teflon coating on product contact parts to improve corrosion resistance and reduce material adhesion.
This project included 2 sets of vertical salt packing machines, designed for back seal pillow bags with PE film.

Why Salt Packaging Requires Anti-Corrosion Design
Salt packaging is different from sugar, rice, beans, or other common granules. Salt can be corrosive, especially when the production environment has humidity or when salt dust remains on machine surfaces for a long time.
If the machine is not properly designed, long-term salt packaging may cause:
Corrosion on product contact surfaces
Faster wear of exposed metal parts
Salt dust accumulation around dosing and forming areas
Difficult cleaning after production
Reduced service life of key parts
Possible contamination risk if corrosion is not controlled
For this Tunisia project, Samfull did not treat salt as a standard granular product. Instead, the machine was customized with anti-corrosion protection for the salt contact area.
Teflon Coating on Product Contact Parts
One of the key technical points of this project is that the product contact parts were sprayed with Teflon coating.
Teflon coating helps improve machine performance in salt packaging because it provides:
1. Better corrosion resistance
The coating creates a protective layer between salt and the metal surface, helping reduce direct salt corrosion during long-term production.
2. Lower material adhesion
Salt particles and salt dust are less likely to stick strongly to coated surfaces, making production smoother and cleaning easier.
3. Easier cleaning after production
For salt packaging factories, daily cleaning is important. Teflon-coated contact parts help operators remove salt residue more easily.
4. Longer service life of contact parts
By reducing direct corrosion and residue accumulation, the coated parts can support more stable long-term operation.
5. More suitable for humid environments
In some coastal or humid markets, salt can absorb moisture more easily. Anti-corrosion treatment becomes especially important for long-term machine reliability.
Why Measuring Cup Dosing Was Selected for 1kg Salt
The customer’s salt product had good flowability and relatively stable bulk density. Therefore, a measuring cup dosing system was selected.
For 1kg salt packaging, measuring cup dosing offers:
Simple mechanical structure
Easy volume adjustment
Stable filling for free-flowing salt
Lower maintenance cost than complex weighing systems
Better cost-performance for standard 1kg retail bags
Suitable for continuous medium-scale production
For projects requiring higher weighing accuracy, a linear weigher or multihead weigher can also be used. But for this customer’s 1kg salt application, the measuring cup dosing system was more practical and economical.
Machine Configuration
| Configuration | Details |
|---|---|
| Main Machine | Vertical packing machine |
| Dosing System | Measuring cup dosing system |
| Product Contact Parts | Teflon-coated anti-corrosion design |
| Film Material | PE film |
| Bag Former | Customized former for 1kg salt bag |
| Sealing Type | Back seal |
| Cutting Type | Standard cutting |
| Control System | Siemens system |
| Exhaust | Normal side exhaust |
| Static Elimination | Included |
| Coding System | Standard date coding |
| Quantity | 2 sets |
The machine was configured according to the customer’s 1kg salt bag size and PE film material. Since PE film is softer than laminated film, the machine required stable film pulling, accurate sealing temperature control, and reliable end sealing strength.

Bag Size Reference
| Item | Specification |
|---|---|
| Filling Weight | 1000g |
| Bag Width | 140mm |
| Bag Length | 200mm |
| Film Width | Around 340mm |
| Side Seal Width | Around 5mm |
| Top / Bottom Seal Width | Around 5mm |
| Bag Type | Back seal pillow bag |
For 1kg salt bags, sealing strength is very important because each bag must withstand product weight, stacking, handling, and transportation.
PE Film Packaging Technical Points for 1kg Salt
PE film is widely used for economical salt packaging, but it requires careful machine adjustment.
Stable sealing temperature
PE film is sensitive to heat. If the temperature is too low, the seal may be weak. If the temperature is too high, the film may deform or stick to the sealing jaws.
Strong back seal and end seal
Each bag contains 1kg of salt, so the back seal and end seal must be strong enough for transportation and storage.
Smooth film pulling
Stable film pulling helps maintain consistent bag length and reduces bag deviation during continuous operation.
Static elimination
PE film may generate static electricity during operation. Static elimination helps improve film running stability and reduce film adhesion problems.
Anti-corrosion cleaning routine
Even with Teflon coating, regular cleaning is still important. Salt residue should be removed after production, especially around the measuring cup, hopper, forming area, sealing area, and machine surfaces exposed to salt dust.
Production Capacity
Each machine was designed to run at approximately 25–28 bags per minute.
| Machine Quantity | Speed per Machine | Estimated Output |
|---|---|---|
| 1 set | 25–28 bags/min | 1,500–1,680 bags/hour |
| 2 sets | 50–56 bags/min | 3,000–3,360 bags/hour |
This capacity is suitable for salt producers, food packaging factories, local distributors, and contract packaging companies in Tunisia.
Why the Tunisia Customer Chose Samfull
The Tunisia customer needed a practical 1kg salt packaging solution that could balance cost, speed, and long-term reliability.
Samfull provided a customized solution based on the actual production requirements:
1kg salt packaging
PE film material
Measuring cup dosing system
Back seal pillow bag format
25–28 bags/min speed requirement
Teflon coating on product contact parts
Anti-corrosion design for salt packaging
Chinese / English / French machine interface
2-machine production arrangement
This case shows that Samfull does not simply use a standard granular packaging machine for every product. For corrosive materials such as salt, the machine structure, contact parts, coating treatment, cleaning convenience, and long-term durability must all be considered.
