Customer Requirement

The Zimbabwe customer required an automatic packaging machine for 5kg corn flour bags. The machine needed to complete:

• Automatic film forming

• Screw dosing

• Filling

• Back sealing

• Horizontal sealing

• Cutting

• Date coding

• Air exhaust before sealing

For 5kg flour packaging, the machine must be stable enough for heavy powder bags. Compared with small powder sachets, 5kg flour bags require stronger sealing, smoother powder filling, and better air exhaust control.

Why Screw Dosing Was Selected

According to the production sheet, this machine uses screw dosing.

For corn flour and similar flour products, screw dosing is suitable because the material is powder. During packaging, powder needs to be filled in a more controlled way. If the feeding is unstable, the bag weight and sealing area may be affected.

For this 5kg application, screw dosing helps with:

• More stable powder filling

• Better control of each filling cycle

• Suitable dosing method for flour products

• Better matching with vertical packaging machine structure

This configuration is practical for corn flour, maize flour and other similar powder materials.

Bag Type: Back Seal + Gusset Bag

The production sheet shows the bag type as back seal and gusset bag.

This bag type is suitable for 5kg flour packaging because the gusset structure gives the bag more volume and better shape after filling. For 5kg products, a simple flat bag may not be ideal if the bag shape is too bulky.

The back seal gusset bag is suitable for:

• 5kg corn flour

• 5kg maize flour

• 5kg wheat flour

• 5kg similar flour products

Sponge Air Exhaust for 5kg Flour Bags

The machine is equipped with sponge air exhaust.

For flour packaging, air may remain inside the bag during filling. If the air is not exhausted before sealing, the finished bag can become too inflated. This affects bag appearance, stacking and transportation.

The sponge air exhaust device helps press out part of the air before final sealing, making the 5kg flour bag more compact and easier to handle.

This is an important detail in this project because the customer’s product is packed in 5kg bags, not small sachets.

Printing Requirement

The production sheet specifies a ribbon coding printer.

Printing requirement:

• Standard ribbon coding printer

• 3-line printing

• 26 English characters

• MFG / EXP content

This allows the customer to print production date and expiry date on the package, which is commonly required for food flour packaging.

Production Capacity

The required speed on the production sheet is:

7–8 bags per minute for 5kg bags

This capacity is suitable for a customer who needs stable 5kg flour packaging with one automatic vertical packing machine.

This machine is mainly designed for 5kg corn flour packaging, and can also be used for similar flour products after testing and adjustment.
